Booze in Hollywood
The Golden Age of Hollywood lasted from the 1920s to the 1960s. It was a time during which the major movie studios ruled the roost. The time during which iconic actors like Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, and Marilyn Monroe were faltering under the stranglehold of their contracts. But, it was primarily a time in which the alcohol flowed more freely than it ever had or ever would again. Alcohol was everywhere, both on and off the screen.
Starting on 23 September, Booze in Hollywood gives you a unique view of a time and place when drinking was considered sexy and some of the biggest stars regularly drank on camera. Using carefully selected images from movies, parties, and private moments, this exhibition sketches a picture of an era that will never again be equalled in terms of style, charisma, and extravagance.
