Z33 – House for Contemporary Art, Design & Architecture

Hasselt gained a new architectural gem in 2020: the Z33 building on the old beguinage site. Behind an unusual exterior of diamond-shaped bricks is an arts centre that houses exhibitions, research, productions, and collaborative projects on contemporary art, design, and architecture.

The unusual building designed by architect Francesca Torzo plays with proportions, sightlines and light, with open spaces and more intimate areas, and with a special materiality and tactility.
